Learning Focus

Animals and houses all jumbled up! The "one-to-one" stage compares quantities by matching: one animal per house shows at a glance which is more, and by how much. "Two animals per house" is the prelude to division with remainders: how many are left homeless? How many houses stay empty? All common picture questions in Primary One interviews.

Playing Together

Teach your child to draw matching lines or circle pairs with a pen (or finger) — "one animal to one house", not guessing by eye. When answering "how many more", count out loud: "1, 2, 3 — 3 more." Clear steps, no confusion.

Everyday Practice

Pair up socks, line shoes up in pairs, "two people per chair — how many chairs for 6 people?" — matching ideas can be practised anywhere at home, no special materials needed.
