Learning Focus

Deal the candies one by one into jars: everyone gets the same amount — that's what "equal" means. This is the pre-concept of division: division isn't a chant, it's "sharing until everyone has the same". The game also asks "did it share out exactly? Any left over?" — a first feel for remainders, laying the ground for formal division.

Playing Together

Emphasise the "one by one, take turns" strategy (dealing out), then check together: "Is every share the same? That's what fair means." When it doesn't share out exactly, discuss "what could we do with the extras?" — the question itself is excellent thinking practice.

Everyday Practice

Sharing cutlery and fruit among the family is the most natural practice: "12 cherry tomatoes, 4 people — how many each?" Every dinner table can be a maths table.
