Scale Safari

Comparing Weights

Look at the scales — which side goes down?

For Parents

Learning Focus

Read the balance scale: the sinking side is heavier, the rising side lighter, level means equal. More animals join gradually, training transitive reasoning: A is heavier than B, B is heavier than C, so A is heavier than C — no weighing needed. This logic appears in harder Primary One interview questions, testing observation and reasoning alike.

Playing Together

Teach your child to answer in full sentences: "The lion is heavier than the monkey" — not just pointing. With three animals, guide them to reason pair by pair instead of guessing all at once — step-by-step reasoning is the goal.

Everyday Practice

A kitchen scale is a great teaching aid: weigh fruit and cups — guess first, then weigh. No scale? Use both hands as a human balance, tipping palms up and down — children love it.
